Backyard Astronomy at McCullough Hills Trailhead

Think stargazing and backyard astronomy are not possible with the bright lights of Vegas around us? You'd be surprised what's visible in the night sky from here with just a pair of binoculars. Weather permitting we'll be out at the McCullough Hills trailhead on Mission Drive for an introduction to backyard astronomy. Drop by anytime between 6pm and 9pm and get a tour of the night sky! We'll provide tips and tricks for viewing faint objects, identifying and navigating the constellations, and using stargazing equipment. Bring binoculars if you have them. We'll have a few pairs to pass around and free star maps to take home.

If you're a backyard astronomer and would like to share your own scope and experience with the community you're welcome to set up with us. And if you have a pair of binoculars you'd like to donate for events like these we'll be happy to accept them and get them into kids' hands. All donations of FSC are tax deductible.
