  • Desert Bighorn Sheep Walk

    Climb from Hidden Valley into the McCullough Hills to explore for signs of Desert Bighorn Sheep. This is a intermediate/advanced hike in a sandy wash and steep hillsides along the 300 trail. Participation for this is being capped at 10 people. To participate you MUST RSVP with BLM Ranger Jim Flook at dflook@blm.gov or call 702-515-5352.

    We're entering a special management area in the McCullough Wilderness, so apologies but no dogs or other domesticated animals are allowed on this excursion.

    You will need a high clearance vehicle with 4 wheel drive. Carpooling is encouraged. If you don't have a 4wd vehicle but would still like to attend check with Ranger Flook about the possibility of riding with someone.

    Time: 4.5 hours
    Length: 4.5 miles round trip
    Difficulty: Moderate/Strenuous

    Recommended Gear: Closed-toe shoes, 2 liters or 64 ounces of water, sunglasses, sunscreen, hats, snack and a day pack.

  • Geology Walk - McCullough Hills

    Walk through a volcano and learn about the unique geologic features of the McCullough Hills. This is a beginner friendly hike in a sandy wash and hard pack trail along the McCullough Hills, 603, and 601 trails.

    Time: 2.5 hours
    Length: 3 miles round trip
    Difficulty: Easy
    Pets: Dogs must be leashed at all times

    Hiking Terrain: Sandy wash, elevation gain (upright walking) through rocky terrain.
    Recommended Gear: Closed-toe shoes, 2 liters or 64 ounces of water, sunglasses, sunscreen, hats, snack and a day pack.

  • Hike to Petroglyphs - 200 Trail

    This is guided hike for intermediate hikers. We're visiting the Sloan Canyon Petroglyphs via a route that bypasses the large rock shelves in the main canyon wash. Reservations are limited to the first 18 visitors.
