Education & Outreach

Friends of Sloan Canyon is looking for volunteers to help with various education and outreach programs we and the Bureau of Land Management engage in throughout the year. This is a great way to get involved introducing kids and their families to our nation's public lands and reinforce ethical & responsible outdoor experiences. Currently this includes:

  • Presenting a Leave No Trace program from various trailheads
  • BLM in-classroom education programs for K-12 students
  • seasonal guided interpretive hikes along various Sloan trails
  • local outreach for the Every Kid in a Park program
  • representing Friends of Sloan Canyon when we table at local events such as Get Outdoors Nevada Day

Some activities may require in-person orientation/training sessions before participating. If you're a people person and like getting out and networking, especially if you're an experienced educator, we'd love to get you involved.
