Stargazing at the Contact Station

Think stargazing and backyard astronomy are not possible with the bright lights of Vegas around us? You'd be surprised what's visible in the night sky from here with just a pair of binoculars. Weather permitting we're keeping the contact station gate and parking area open after hours Thursday evening, January 18 to view a few planets, various celestial objects, and if we're lucky the very new crescent moon. Drop by and get a tour of the night sky! Bring binoculars if you have them, we'll have a few pairs to pass around. If you're a backyard astronomer and would like to share your own scope with visitors please do. We'll have hot drinks available and and star maps to take home. Thursday, January 18 from 5:30-7:00pm at the Sloan Canyon Contact Station.
