Restore Trails and Habitat with the Nevada Veterans Conservation Corps

Join Nevada's new Veterans Conservation Corps for a morning of trail and landscape rehabilitation. A variety of work will be done around the trailhead for the McCullough Hills and Anthem East trails, suitable for beginners and experts alike.

On the agenda is the raking out and decommissioning of three social trails and local litter pickup. If you're interested in how trails are built and maintained (there's a method to the madness!) you'll have the opportunity to learn those techniques from the veterans crew.

Tools, protective gear and lunch will be provided by the organizers. All you have to bring is yourself, a water bottle and a willingness to have fun and learn about local trails. No open-toed footwear, please, wear shoes or boots suitable for hiking in the desert. If you're not 18 years old yet you'll need a parent or guardian in attendance with you.

This is the continuation of a program called "From Military Service to Green Service: Veterans Conservation Corps." Coordinated the Conservation Lands Foundation and funded by the NV Energy Foundation, this program is designed to place young military veterans who are part of the Nevada Conservation Corps to work supporting the Sloan Canyon National Conservation Area and Basin and Range National Monument.
