The Bureau of Land Management may manage our public lands, but it's We The People that own it. It's up to all of us to protect biological and cultural resources, keep our trails maintained, trailheads clean, and the landscape healthy for current and future generations to enjoy. You can help by volunteering for various activities including staffing the Sloan Canyon NCA visitor contact station, community outreach, being part of a trail crew, or monitoring trail conditions. Current volunteer opportunities are listed below. When you're ready to get involved fill out your info below and we'll get back to you as soon as possible to get started.

Contact Station Info Desk

BLM has a new temporary contact station trailer installed at Petroglyph Trailhead, and we're recruiting and training volunteers now so we can be ready to welcome visitors when it opens to the public. You would be greeting visitors and answering questions about the NCA's trails and features in a climate controlled, indoor environment. Four-hour long morning and afternoon shifts will be available 7 days a week.

Trail Maintenance & Litter Team

Join a crew dedicated to  performing light trail maintenance tasks such as clearing debris, installing/replacing trail markers, restoring disturbed landscapes, or collecting litter. This is a great activity to do with groups of friends, neighbors, or co-workers. We provide all the tools and protective equipment.

Trail Monitors

Trail Monitors hike not just for fun but with a special focus; to observe and report on trail conditions, impacts to the land, and visitation information. This is a good opportunity to expand your experience and visit areas of the NCA you've never visited before.

Community Outreach

Table with us at various community events throughout the year. With the new trailer operational at Petroglyph Trailhead, we plan on setting up our pop-up contact station on the weekends at various other Sloan trailheads to speak with visitors, answer questions, and promote safety and responsibility.

Communications/Social Media

Do you enjoy producing digital media and have some free time? Help us with online education and outreach efforts. This is a great way to get involved introducing kids and their families to Nevada's special outdoors spaces, answer questions about the NCA, and reinforce ethical & responsible outdoor experiences.
